Time was when music and artwork have been bit gamers in business, used to create a pleasing atmosphere for shoppers or to brighten up boring places of work. Today, backed by findings from quite a few analysis studies, organisations are rather more strategic of their use of art and music to influence client behaviour, employees performance, and finally the bottom line. As you’ll have realized by now, it is tough to have a precise definition for true art since it is so subjective in nature.
I make my living as an artist (of the visual type), but a lot of what I do is not Art with a capital “A.” Designing graphics for racing motorcycles, for example, borders on Fashion, because I have to maintain coming up with new ones every year. But then again, a lot of Art is ephemeral, and if my work is appreciated for a brief span of time, at least it’s appreciated, proper? I’ve done lots of what I’d consider Fine Art, paintings and drawings which (I hope!) nonetheless hold on folks’s partitions, but I know very properly that what I produce each day isn’t that type of lasting work.
